Session: Come to the Table

Session objectives:

The Bold Futures-led session is about coming to the table to center the stories and expertise of those directly impacted by systems that pass policies that aim improve or our quality of life.


Luzhilda Campos

LuzHilda Campos is a Policy co-director at Bold Futures (formerly Young Women United), an organization leading policy change, research, place-based organizing, and culture shift by and for women and people of color in New Mexico.

LuzHilda was born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico and migrated to New Mexico alongside her family at the age of three. Her upbringing is a true New Mexican experience rooted in the struggles of poor rural communities and grassroots community solutions.

LuzHilda formerly served as the National Deportation Defense Program Director for United We Dream. LuzHilda developed and led strategies to stop immigrant incarceration and deportations. Under her leadership, the program was devoted to transformational grassroots organizing, advocacy and civic engagement.

LuzHilda has been directly impacted by the criminal system and is fully committed to fighting the criminalization and incarceration of Black and Brown communities.

Jerrica Salazar

Jerrica Salazar is a Certified Peer Support Worker and is currently developing community through her leadership role with Barrios Unidos, a wellness center located at the heart of Chimayo and a leader with Bold Futures NM. Jerrica was born in Santa Fe N.M and raised in La Mesa N.M as well as Espanola NM and is fully committed to movement building in the Espanola areas and other Rural communities. Jerrica has focused on providing direct services for youth, parents and adults in her community. These direct services include but are not limited to Healing, re-entry service, housing, Peer support, food distribution,planning community events, Community Outreach among other things. Jerrica also took part in a grant that housed displaced youth in Rio Arriba county.

Doralee Urban

Doralee Urban is a proud mother and cosmetology student. She is a leader with Bold Futures NM, where she has been able to influence policy change for women who have been previously incarcerated or substance using and pregnant. Doralee was pivotal in the development and filming of All The World is Sleeping, a film produced and directed by bold futures. All the world is sleeping highlights the realities that women face as they go through their journey of recovery. .
